Summary name="EnDivSummary">Guided by the formation mechanism of subtle pools, the controlling factors of hydrocarbon accumulation were discussed in beach bar sandstone from upper Es4 Formation in Boxing Oilfield, Dongying Depression. The results show that the hydrocarbon distribution was extremely heterogeneous. Hydrocarbon mainly concentrated in the fault belt, the main body and the edge of beach bar which had thick sand. There developed four kinds of oil and gas pools. On the premise of similar oil source and tectonic setting, physical feature and heterogeneity of the reservoir were the most important factors for controlling hydrocarbon accumulation. Basic migration pathways included interconnected pores, microbedding planes and layer interfaces. The sand body distribution,structure configuration and space allocation of fault system controlled the regional migration direction and hydrocarbon accumulation location.
