The LiupanshanBasin is a Mesozoic sedimentary basin developed on the basement of the corridor transition belt. The surface structure surveys and seismic and nonseismic prospecting indicate that complex imbricated thrust structures consisting of multiple overthrust faults and overthrust sheets intervening in them have been developed in the mountain front on the southwestern margin of the basin since Himalaya Movement. This structural belt is similar to the QilianshanMountain front of the JiuxiBasin in the structural feature and the setting for petroleum accumulation. Owing to excellent petroleum geologic conditions, it is one of the most favorable areas for hydrocarbon exploration in the LiupanshanBasin.
