Application of Hyperspectral Remote Sensing on Mineral Exploration in Dongdatan District of East Kunlun, Qinghai Province

Taking Dongdatan district in Qinghai Province as an example, the characteristics and the processing techniques of the Hyperion data are discussed in detail. With methods of SAM, SFF and MF, the hyperspectral data of Hyperion were processed, and the mineral alteration image of Dongdatan district was acquired through the extraction of mineral alteration information from the hyperspectral data using ENVI. The image shows that the mineral alteration assemblages of silicate, carbonate and ferric iron exist at the southeast of the outside body of monzogranite and granodiorite in Moshigou. According to the remote sensing image, a valuable result of mineralization prediction was achieved combining regional geology with mineralization conditions in this region and the optimized target area, and the Dongdatan copper mineralization point was identified.
