Most of fissures in the Shaximiao Formation, Wubaochang are tectonic ones which were formed by SE-and NE-trending compressive stress in the Himalayan epoch. Reservoir of the Shaximiao Formation consists mainly of gray, grayish white feldspathic quartz sandstone, arkose, grayish feldspathic litharenite, lithic arkose and lithic sandstone which are characterized by brittle character, low cement, low compositional maturity and high textural maturity.
