Liaodong area was one of the five important metallogenic areas in north China platform,where there were rich iron ore resources and large prospecting potential. The main genetic types of iron ore was sedimentary metamorphic type. The authors discussed the metallogenic model of iron ore in Liaodong area on the basis of analyzing regional geological environment,mineralization and the process of formation and later reconstruction of sedimentary metamorphic iron deposits. Secondly the authors built the mineral resources prospecting model which was suitable for the iron ore prediction through extracting the geological,geochemical,geophysical information under the guidance of metallogenic model. According to the established prospecting model of the study area,by using the evidence weights method to predict and evaluate the iron ore resources deposit in the area. Finally the authors analyzed the values of posterior probability and delineated metallogenic prospects,they contained three level one metallogenic prospects and five level two metallogenic prospects. The predicted results showed that eastern Liaoning area was of a good potential for prospecting minerals and the ore prediction method was very effective.
