Early Precambrian banded iron formations (BIFs) are widely distributed in the eastern Hebei Province and their genesis and formation ages were controversial. This paper reported the zircon U-Pb age of the host rocks of the Wangsiyu iron deposit. Wangsiyu iron deposit is a typical BIF-type iron deposit in easten Hebei Province. The iron ores occurred as lens in their host rock plagioclase- hornblende gneisses or were interlayered with plagioclase-hornblende gneisses, indicating that these two lithologies are temporally closely associated. A mean age of 2516Ma±9Ma was captured in the zircons from the plagioclase-homblende gneisses by LA-ICP- MS and it is interpreted the formation age of the gneisses, also standing for the formation age the BIF. The Wangsiyu BIF associated with other BIFs in the easten Hebei Province represent a Neoarehean rnetallogenic event of BIF widely developed in the North China Craton.
