Redefinition of Haerjiawu Formation and Its Significance in West Junggar, Xinjiang: Constraints from Evidence of Geology, Geochemistry and Geochronology
摘要
A set of basic and intermediate-acid volcanic rock formation consisting mainly of basic volcanic rocks, and a terrestrial coal-bearing clastic rocks interbedded with a small amount of normal basic volcano rock formation occurred in Zhuwankala area of Jimunai County,Xinjiang.Previous workers defined these rocks as Haerjiawu Formation of Lower Triassic.Through detailed field geological investigation, based on the measured geological section, rock assemblage characteristics, geochemical characteristics, biological characteristics and LA-ICP-MS U-Pb zircon dating data,it is considered that the former Haerjiawu Formation better be renamed as Batamayineishan Formation. This provide important basis for Paleozoic strata division and comparison in the west Junggar region of Xinjiang area.
