///The thermal optimum of Cenozoic is known to occur in Early Eocene and the climate cooled down gradually thereafter. As leaf physiognomies vary accordingly to surrounding environments, fossil leaves can be used as proxy for paleoclimate. The Leaf Margin Analysis (LMA) method was used here to reconstruct Mean Annual Temperature (MAT) of six Chinese Eocene floras. This study showed that, the general trend of climate change in China during Eocene agrees with that of the whole world, such as MAT trends of western United States’ and northwestern European Eocene paleofloras, which were calculated by Climate-Leaf Analysis Multivariate Program (CLAMP) and Coexistence Approach (CA) respectively. The results showed that hot climate presented in early Eocene and continued to early Middle Eocene, and then, it cooled down from late Middle Eocene to Late Eocene in
