Based on the geological survey in the field and the experimental analysis,this paper discusses the sedimentary characteristics,the organic geochemistry characteristics and the reservoir characteristics of the Wufeng Formation and Longmaxi Formation shale in Nanchuan area,Sichuan,China.The sedimentary facies from the lower segment to the upper segment of Wufeng Formation in Nanchuan area is the transition from the deep-water shelf to the shallow shelf,which is similar to Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation.The organic matter in this area is dominated by Ⅱ1 and Ⅱ 2-kerogen.The total organic carbon content (TOC) range is 0.22% ~4.59%,the thermal evolution degree is high-mature and even over-mature and Ro is 1.99%~2.74%.The mineral composition of the shale is mainly brittle minerals quartz,then followed by clay minerals.The results coming from scanning electron microscopy show that there develop a large number of micropores in the shale of Nanchuan and most of them are dissolution pores and organic microporous,provide favorable spaces for storing shale gas.
