摘要
The formation characteristics of carbonate platform, storm rocks and reefs in the Third Formation of Kavabulake group are studied in this paper by further study on sedimentology in the area of Kavabulake,Xinjiang. The carbonate platform of the Third Formation of Kavabulake group is characterized by carbonate rock series containing abundant stromatolites, and silicium, magnesium and carbonate rocks with molar-tooth structure, and the sedimentary facies are mainly composed of breccia bioclastic limestone, storm breccia and stromatolite bioherm limestone. All those show that the late Mesoproterozoic carbonate platform has experienced the evolution from the platform marginal facies to the platform marginal steep slope facies. The formation of carbonate platform indicates that the east Tianshan is a sign of stable sedimentary environment. The above-mentioned lithologic and biologic features of the Mesoproterozoic carbonate rocks in the Kavabulake area are similar to those of the simultaneous carbonate rocks in North China plate. The new discovery discussed in this paper has an important significance for studying tectonics, paleoclimate, paleogeography and ore prospecting in the east Tianshan area and affiliation between east Tianshan and North China plate.
