Applying JRC-JCS Model and Portable Shear Test to Acquire Shear Strength of Rock Joint

This paper studies the rock joints of an engineering slope. Both the JRC-JCS model and the shear test were used to obtain reasonable shear strength parameters. The final parameter is resulted from the synthetic analysis of the two results. The shear strength value from the shear test exceeds the reality, due to its sampling, and that from the JRC-JCS model is closer to the reality with the spot rebound Hammer test used and the actual surface roughness considered.
