The paper reviews the history of the research on the latest activity of faults and earthquakes in Shenzhen City, and sums up the previous work and main cognition. On the basis of this, the latest engineering detection results and research progress of the project on active fault surveying and earthquake risk assessment in Shenzhen City are introduced. In the project, the authors study Henggang-Luohu fault, Liantang fault and Wentang-Guanlan fault with the help of the satellite remote sensing interpretation, the microseism pinpoint, the seismogeological survey, the drilling and the trench detection, the shallow seismic exploration, the magnetotelluric array detection and underground electromagnetic prospecting. The features of near surface fault and mid-deep structure, new activities of the above faults and earthquake risk are assessed, and some new acknowledge are obtained. Finally, some suggestions are proposed by the combination of faulted structure activities in Shenzhen City and existed problems of earthquake risk assessment.
