This paper reviews the research progresses of the high-density resistivity method, including the development of the high-density resistivity system, electrode arrangement ways and inversion methods, as well as the development from centralized to distributed instrument deployment. In the end, this paper points out that the development trend of the high density resistivity method is increasing the transmitter power, increasing the supply current, increasing spread length and increasing the number of instrument channels. The three-dimensional nonlinear conjugate gradient inversion with topography has the advantages of demanding less memory, fast calculation, being capable of positioning the location of anomalous body. It would be more widely applied.
