Magnetic Properties of Romanian Quaternary Loess Deposits and Its Significances

The Mircea Voda loess paleosol sequence in Romania is located in the Dobrudja Plateau at a distance of about 13 km from the Danube and 40 km from the Black Sea coast(44°19’15″N,28°11’21″E).By analyzing several magnetic parameters,such as Xlf,Xfd%,XARM,IRM,SIRM,J-T and hysteresis loop of Mircea Voda loess samples,their results show that the magnetic minerals of Mircea Voda loess-paleosol sequence are similar with that of Chinese loess,which are predominated by magnetite and maghemite,meanwhile,and goethite.The pedogenesis in Romanian is weaker than that in Xifeng,different climatic condition: precipitation coupling various temperatures in China and Romania,could be another reason why the magnetic susceptibility of Mircea Voda section is lower than the Xifeng section’s.
