Times New Roman">The alternating marine and non-marine Late Triassic--Early Jurassic coal-bearing strata in South China contains abundant brackish-marine bi- valves, which are important for the subdivision of the widely occurred, terrestrial upper Triassic and Lower Jurassic of China. A total of 29 species, be- longing to 19 genera bivalves from the Upper Tri- assic and Lower Jurassic of South China are sys- tematically described. Among these species, Trigonucula sakawana Ichikawa, 1949, Pteria sturi times new roman’; mso-hansi-font-family: ’times new roman’">( Bittner, 1895 times new roman’; mso-hansi-font-family: ’times new roman’">), Costigervillia minima Wen, 1979, and Cercomya praecursor Quenstedt, 1856 are firstly reported in this region, and the previously described species of Isocardioides Fan,1962 are revised into Schafhaeutlia Cossmann, 1897. Three bivalve assemblages are recognized from the Xiaoshui, Sanjiachong, and Jinji forma- tions. They are respectively Palaeopharus-Trigo- nucula , Bakevelloides-J iangxiella , and Parainoc- eramus-Ryderia guangdongensis assemblages.
