At the era of knowledge-driven economy, it is a certain tendency to change the traditional urban geological work pattern by using the information technology. As in Shanghai, China ,a significant goal of urban geology is to develop a information-based work pattern. In this pattern, a few key courses are planned to be operated grounded on the urban geological data center. They are respectively data collection and processing, data managing and maintenance, data analysis and application, on information sharing and services, results reporting and show. Obviously, establishment of this new work pattern will help to make further progress on the future urban geological investigation.
