Tamsag Basin is located in the eastern part of Mongolia. The effect of the zone to hydrocarbon accumulation exists in the whole reservoir-forming process. The transfer zone may form structures or traps that are prone to hydrocarbon migration and accumulation. It controls the distribution of organism-rich sediments or sand-bodies by dividing the depositional area into isolated sub-sags. The dense faults in the zone provide conduit for hydrocarbon migration and accumulation. Petroleum migration and accumulation of east sub-sag of South Buir sag is controlled in the south-north sub-sag structural transfer zones which confined the distribution of the sedimentary system, favorable reservoir sandstones and effective structural traps. The discovery reservoir is related to the south-north sub-sag structural transfer zones of South Buir sag.
