Based on newly discovered microfossilses New Roman’; mso-hansi-font-family: ’Times New Roman’">(including phytodebris microfossilses New Roman’; mso-hansi-font-family: ’Times New Roman’">)from the Xiaoxi Formation in the Zhangjiajie-Sangzhi area, northwestern Hunan Province, the occurrence of Ludlow-Pridoli strata in the interior of the Yangtze Platform is verified. It consists of yellow-green clastic sediments with plenty of trace fossils. The Huixingshao Formation is commonly referred to as the upper red beds with an age of Late Telychian, Llandovery. The latest Telychian, Wenlock and early espace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Ludlow are represented by a parallel unconformity between the Xiaoxi and Huixingshao formations.
