By seismic data processing in different azimuths the seismic attributes of all azimuths are extracted and the most representative ones are filtered out in this paper. By attribute orientation ellipse fitting, the oblateness of the property ellipse is obtained to characterize the anisotropy of the reservoir. On this basis, volcanic edifice is identified. Using the different azimuths of prestack seismic data to extract seismic attribute, and fitting seismic attribute orientation ellipse, the oblateness is used to characterize the size of anisotropy and serves as the basis to identify volcanic edifice. In this paper, the method of volcanic edifice identification based on the anisotropy of seismic attribute is proposed with detailed elaboration of the flowchart and brief description of application conditions and the effect is examined, compared and analyzed with actual seismic data.
