The Rexiang copper deposit lies in the Nujiang-Lanchang-Jinsha River metallogenic belt and in nonferrous and precious metal concentration region in the Yidun island arc zone. The ore is rich in Rb, Th, U and Ta, obviously depleted in Ba, Sr and Ti and middlingly depleted in Nb and P. Based on ore chemical compositions and mineralizing tectonic setting, it is suggested that ore material of the Rexiang copper deposit was derived from non-water crust and formed in the last stage of granite magma series of intraplate magmatism without participation of fluids derived from the subduction plate.
