This paper investigates dinoflagellates extracted from about 100 samples from the upper part of the Middle Member of Anjihaihe Formation at 12 outcrops and boreholes on southern edge of the Junggar Basin. 52 genera and 93 species were identified, and one assemblage zone with two subzones was recognized. According to the dinoflagellate assemblage, the authors infer that the studying area was obviously influenced by warm sea water when the upper part of the Middle Member of Anjihaihe Formation was deposited. However, the existence of a large number of Pediastrum indicates deposition in a brackish environmental.
