Dome-and-Basin Pattern in Central Hunan Province: Stages and Genesis of Fold Superposition

详细信息
摘要

There are three groups of angular unconformities in central Hunan Province. Similarly the deformation is divided into three stages: Caledonian, Early Indosinian, Late Indosinian and Yanshanian, producing four structural levels. Each structural level has distinct characteristics. Caledonian and Early Indosinian folds strike in E-W. The Qiyang arc-shape structure occurred in Late Indosinian period. However, the sinistral strike-slip faults with northeast-north to northeast strikes formed in the Yanshanian period. By analyzing the characteristics of fold superposition, this paper proposes that the structural type of dome-and-basin in central Hunan Province was resulted from one-stage Caledonian and two-stage Indosinian fold superpositions, being reformed by the Yanshanian sinistral strike-slip faulting.
