In this paper, the authors described the major techniques of fine reservoir description are reservoir subdivision and correlation, microstructure study, microfacies subdivision, layer interface and flow unit study as well as reservoir modeling. Developmental trend of fine reservoir description in the future is as follows: further development and application of 4D seismic technology and high resolution sequence stratigraphy, strengthening study of property of reservoir and dynamical property of fluids, establishing reservoir geological knowledge database and prototype model.
