摘要

Because the fundamental questions such as definition, connotation and features of mineral material sciences are subordinate and independent to materials science and engineering, it is proposed that mineral material sciences is a subject studying the composition and structure of mineral materials, the preparation, synthesis, properties, useful efficacy, and mineral raw material as well as their relationship and regularity among those five elements. The five elements are an organic entity which have their inside relationship and inter reaction. It is the connotation of mineral material sciences that study the five elements and understand their relationship and regularity.
