It is of great significance to study the environmental geochemical baseline which supplies a standard to compare and distinguish the environmental disturbance caused by human events or natural events. This paper studied the environmental geochemical baselines of soil metal elements in the typical towns in Hefei area. The results by standard method are similar to those by statistic method, indicating that these two methods can also be used to determine the environmental geochemical baselines of soil metallic elements.  The baseline values suit the definition of environmental geochemical baseline, and can be used for the soil environmental geochemical evaluation.
