AN lang=EN-US>ace=宋体>In the north piedmont of the amespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />ace w:st="on">aceName w:st="on">TianshanaceName> aceType w:st="on">MountainsaceType>ace>, there are three sub-parallel reverse fault-controlled fold belts. They are products of Late Cenozoic tectonic deformation. In fold belt I, the Tuositai anticline is a typical structure the authors studied. In fold belt II, the authors studied the Tugulu anticline. In fold belt Ⅲ, the Dushanzi anticline was studied. It should begin deforming after about 2.6 Ma because Neogene-Pleistocene strata were folded. The deformation sequence of these Late Cenozoic anticlines show that tectonic deformation has progressively migrated northward. At the same time, a significant crustal shortening occurred in the north piedmont of the ace w:st="on">aceName w:st="on">TianshanaceName> aceType w:st="on">MountainsaceType>ace>. Estimating of the total magnitude of shortening there should range from hmetcnv w:st="on" UnitName="km" SourceValue="8" HasSpace="True" Negative="False" NumberType="1" TCSC="0">8 kmhmetcnv> to hmetcnv w:st="on" UnitName="km" SourceValue="15" HasSpace="True" Negative="False" NumberType="1" TCSC="0">15 kmhmetcnv>.
