The west Qinling area is an important metallogenic belt in China, where the Gertuo gold mine is located. This paper demonstrates the re- gional geology and deposit features of the West Qinling area taking the Gertuo gold mine as an example, discusses the prospecting potential in the deep and peripheral areas, and builds a geological-geophysical model. Based on this model, the existing exploration data from HTM surveys are analyzed in combi- nation with geological data available. It is proved that it is effective to apply HTM to prospecting of deep-seated and marginal blind orebodies in gold mines of the West Qinling area.
