This paper makes an approach to the occurrence and genetic mechanism for the micro-confined groundwater. The micro-confined groundwater is confined to the Upper Cretaceous and the Lower and Middle Pleistocene with the Quaternary clay bed as impermeable cap formation. In the hill country around the Chengdu Plain, the aquifer is exposed and recharged by meteoric water due to denudation of the clay bed. The micro-confined groundwater migrates in fissures, forming ascending springs when migrating in faults.
