The grain-size distribution, geochemical compositions and terrigenous mineral components of sediments of Core EC2005 in the inner shelf of the East China Sea (ECS) are analyzed to probe into their possible inherent relationships. Terrigenous components in Core EC2005 are dominated by clay minerals, quartz and feldspar. The study shows that the grain-size and the geochemical composition of terrigenous mineral particles are the main factors that control the grain-size parameters and geochemical composition of sediments.
