Biomarker Characteristics of Gas Source Rocks from Baoshan Basin, State w:st="on">Yunnan Province, China

The investigation on the organic saturated hydrocarbon chromatograph, the pattern of tricyclic terpane, tetracyclic terpane, pentacyclic triterpane and gonane in Baoshan basin shows that the distribution of the organic carbon numbers of source rocks apparently displays an odd carbon number predominance, and the organic matter is on the stage of immature. The results indicates that the source rock maturity is low. The C30-hopene which has something to do with bacteriological process is also detected. It is preliminarily ascertained that the death depth of bacterial activity in the region of interest is about 1 100 m. C27, C28 and C29 regulated gonane has a pattern of C29>C27>C28, asymmetric “V” type and reverse “L” type showing that the terrestrial organic matter is mainly characterised by import.
