The Nalati-Hongliuhe suture as the suture zone of the Kazakhstan-Junggar plate and the Tarim-North China plate occupies a significant position in the Western Tianshan orogen. Its characteristics were investigated using such as structural geometry, structural kinematics, structural petrology, structural dynamics and structural rheologics methods. The results show that the mainly tectonic style of the suture zone is a large-scale extrusion-cut tectonic system along NEE. Structural dynamic analysis indicated that the suture zone is a structure belt with large-scale dynamic characteristics. The main deformation became pure shear east from the simple shear west gradually, which proved the boundary between the Kazakhstan-Junggar Plate and the Tarim-North China Plate was an oblique convergence boundary mainly characterized by compression-shear.
