Receiver function method is a very useful geophysical prospecting tool. Data from one station KIP deployed in Hawaii area were processed by using the P-wave receiver function technique. The analyzed the characteristics of radial and tangential receiver functions, and committed the time-depth conversion for the radial receiver function to obtain the information from 410 km discontinuity. The results show that there is obvious laterally heterogeneity in southwest and northwest of station KIP, and the 410 km discontinuity becomes shallower with the depth of about 390 km which may be the response of a hot melt matter beneath the KIP station.
