New information about large earthquakes can be acquired by drilling into the fault zone quickly following a large seismic event, which is important for the study on the seismic mechanism in the fault zones.Geophysical logging is an important geophysical means in boreholes.Recent progresses in scientific drilling programs were summarized, which included such as Janpan Nojima science drilling,U.S.San Andreas fault science drilling, the Taiwan Chelungpu drilling program,China Wenchuan Earthquake Scientific Drilling, and their applications of geophysical logging. The log analysis results and their roles were discussed and summarized. Finally, some advices about bore geophysical observation were proposed and the future demands of logging technology for earthquake scientific drilling were considered.
