Based on the statistics of wastewater discharge in Shanghai from 1991 to 2007, the paper compared the changes of wastewater discharge in some fields in Shanghai during the recent years. It pointed out the sources of pollutants in wastewater and analyzed the industrial and residential waste water discharged and disposed, so as to explore effective countermeasures to reduce the wastewater discharge in Shanghai.
