Study on the Debris Flow and Its Controlling Measures in Hongqiao and Caijia Gully in Jinchuan County of Sichuan Province

Hongqiao and Caijia gully, located in the back mountain of Jinchuan county, are both the first tributaries of the Dajinchuan River of Daduhe River system. Hongqiao and Caijia Gully are representative debris flows in mountain urban area of Sichuan Province, whose geological, geomorphologic, and climatic features are presented in this paper. The major characteristics of debris flow are as follows: 1) the loose solid material for debris flow is mainly supplied by the surface layer of landslide; 2) the debris flow causes rapidly disaster and strong damage; 3) high frequency; and 4) rainstorm is the main triggering factor for debris flow. Based on analyzing the property and movement characteristics of debris flow in Hongqiao and Caijia gully, the engineering plans for disaster relief are put forward. After comparing three controlling measures, the third engineering plan is selected as the optimal plan. On the basis of the selected engineering plan, the social, ecological, environmental benefits are analyzed.
