zhang>The relationship between seismic wave velocity and geologic age in basins is analyzed. It is pointed out that due to the different deposition ratezhang>，zhang>hydrothermal fluids during the diagenesiszhang>，zhang>uncomformable surface and the complex geologic structures and so onzhang>，zhang>seismic wave velocity and geological age are not related in origin. The stratigraphic and basement ages calculated with the seismic velocity-age formula are significantly different from the ages determined by isotopic methods, and the calculated ages are non-scientific and meaningless geologically.
