An Experimental Study on Prospecting for Manganese Mineralization by Remote Sensing in the Area Covered with Dense Vegetation——A Case Study in the Daxin—Xialei Area, Western Guangxi—southeastern Yunnan

The area, western Guangxi-southeastern Yunnan Province, is highly covered by dense vegetation. Generally it is very difficult to detect Manganese information in the area coved with dense vegetation by using RS method. As iron and manganese are paragenesis deposits, gossan anomaly was used to detect the alteration and mineralization by RS and applied to search the manganese. Manganese oxide is the mineral containing water, which is the hydroxyl compound. The rocks of Mn-ore are mudstone, limestone and so on.   Finally, spectral angel mapping (SAM) is used to interprete Mn monoxide based on the RS images. The result is highly consistent to the locations of the confirmed Mn-ore. The outcomes prove that the employed methods in the paper are significant to identify manganese information at highly vegetation covered region.
