By examining the correlation between land subsidence and groundwater level variation, the authors can predict the development trend of land subsidence in the North China Plain with reasonable accuracy. Contrasting with the monitoring data of land subsidence in such cities as Beijing, Langfang, Tianjin, Cangzhou and Dezhou along the high speed railway form Beijing to Jinan, the relativity between land subsidence and changes in groundwater level is analyzed, the correlation formulas between land subsidence and groundwater level drop are further established. In addition to the Tianjin area in which land subsidence has already been controlled, the other main subsidence areas in which the deep groundwater is pumped continuously and the groundwater resources are consumed too much, will subside continuously. As a result, the disaster problem of land subsidence will be more serious than before.
