///Based on Yejiwei Tailing Pond in Shizhuyuan, the seepage and stability are analyzed using the finite element method (FEM). Using finite element of heat flow and groundwater seepage to achieve environmental similarity, the seepage field of the tailing pond was simulated and analyzed, its saturation line and waterhead distribution were defined. The finite element model was set up for static analysis by using different volume weights for the soil up and down the saturation line with considering of the effective stress parameters, and the static stability of the tailing pond was analyzed from stress, slip surface and plastic zone. At the same time, the effect to the stability of the tailing pond caused by the changing water level was discussed. The results show that the stability of this tailing pond is well under seepage condition and the changing water level do little effect on its stability.
