Land Subsidence and Its Influences on Urban Security of Shanghai

Land subsidence, the most important geological disaster in Shanghai, has altered the regional topography of Shanghai notably in the past half century. As a result, the elevation of the urban area in Shanghai is generally down to <3.5 m at present. The presented monitoring data in Shanghai indicate that land subsidence has adversely influenced the flood controlling remarkably, while its unevenness in space, has further affected the secure operating of urban linear infrastructures across different land subsidence subdivisions.
