The Luyang Lake is located in the east part of the Central China Plain, with a length from east to west about 30 km and a width 1.5~7 km, covering an area of 124 km2. Soil in the Luyang Lake is severe in salinization, which is not suitable for crop growth. The major problems encountered in development of the lake area exist in exploration of saline soil, causticity assessment and fundament treatment. The fundament soil of the Lubotan belongs to sulphate salty soil.
