Using USGS global catalog of M≥5.0 seismicity between 1850 and 2012, a group of time series of global seismic energy release are obtained. The wavelet transform is applied to these time series in order to analyze the quasi-periodic characteristics. The results show that the time series of global seismic energy release contain three quasi-periodic components of 9-year, 19- year and 45-year. It is worth noting that the 45-year quasi-periodic component is most obvious. Combined with the physical background of the tidal force period, the correlations between long- periodic astronomical tidal forces and quasi cycles of seismic energy release are discussed. Quasi- periodic component related to the short-periodic astronomical tide is not found in the global seismic energy release.
