Laochang large-scale Ag-Pb-Zn poly-metallic deposit, located in the southern part of the "Sanjiang" metallogenic belt, is one of the most representative Ag-Pb-Zn deposits in this belt. It is known as predominant mineralization geological background, unique geological features and abundant mineralization elements by international and domestic academics. Based on geological features of the deposit, this paper summarizes various aspects of research progress on this deposit, including diagenesis and metallogenic ages, the source of ore-forming fluids, the relationship between mineralization and magma, ore genesis and metallogenic prediction. Meanwhile, we find that there are still some questions such as: (1) metallogenic age, metallogenic system and metallogenic geodynamic setting; (2) petro-genesis of concealed granite porphyry and its relationship with the deposit; (3) metallogenic process, metallogenic regularity and metallogenic model; (4) the prospecting model and its target; and (5) integrated utilization of resources.
