摘要
A mechanical model for the rock bursts of an isolated coal pillar was developed and the mechanism of the instabil-ity of the rock bursts was studied by applying cusp catastrophic theory.It was expounded that the occurrences condi-tions of rock bursts can be attributed to the condition that the system accepts enough energy from external environ-ment and the condition that the energy accumulated in system is released suddenly.It is the cause of the rock burstshysteresis that control variables dont satisfy the equation of bifurcation set unless a piece of period has elapsed.Final-ly，the influence of ratios ko/kro and at/k M upon the hysteresis time of rock bursts were discussed.
