摘要
Collins Ice Cap, more than 1 300 km2 in area, locates on the King George Island, WestAntarctica. It is originated in the subpolar maritime climate which is characterized by higher mean annu-al temperature with cooler summer and abundant precipitation in uniform yearly distribution. It is foundthat the ice formation is mainly processed through warm infiltration having superimposed ice on somesurface: the glacier has higher temperature while colder ice is discovered in a certain area. the ice movesin lower speed while its base is in sliding. So the ice cap is attributed to the subpolar maritime glacier bythe authors. In spite of being in stable state during the last 20 years the mass balance of the ice cap be-haves positive in recent 10 years due to the increase of precipitation, which offsets the effect of raisingair temperature.
