摘要
It may surprise many to be reminded of the fact that just 200 years ago Great Britain was the world’s largest producer of metals. Of course, the tonnages involved were not great-less than 20 000 tonnes of iron per year-but at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution the producers and consumers of metal were one and the same.
