摘要

A striking feature of the surface relief of the earth's continents is that such a considerable part of the total land area, in Europe as much as 57 per cent., forms low flat plains, at levels less than 2oo m. above the sea, sloping gently from the interior continents towards, the low coasts, and as a rule continuing outside the coasts as broad flat platforms, slightly below sea-level.
