摘要
Moore’s Handbook of Subsurface Geology is a succinct, modern treatment of a widely ranging geologic subdiscipline. At first blush, however, the subject appears to be chiefly one of paramount practical importance and that importance certainly should not be minimized. But the scientific and philosophical significance of researches in subsurface geology may, in the long run, equal, if not transcend, the values now attached to the commercial exploration of that vast terra incognita which lies beneath the earth’s surface.
