The volume begins with detailed profiles of 43 major companies (as defined on page7), each of which allocated at least $50 million or more to exploration this year, providing information on each company's actual expenditures from 2004 through 2011; showing the 2012 budget divided into amounts directed to various mineral targets, regions, and stages of development; and a more detailed breakdown of expenditures by country. Each profile provides a brief overview of the company, comments on the scope and direction of its growth strategy with particular emphasis on exploration, and details its current exploration activities. The second section of Volume 2 includes brief profiles of an additional 11 companies that each allocated at least $50 million to exploration this year.
