The Cover picture shows a concept of using biomass to derive fuel and fuel molecules through simple catalytic transformations. In light of a production decline of fossil fuels over decades and increasing environmental concerns, sustainable and renewable alternatives to petroleum are critically needed to fill future gaps in supply of transportation fuels and chemical feedstocks. Our approach proposes a mild route to the preparation of branched alkanes suitable for diesel fuel starting from simple sugars.
